ERASMUS + Online TC – Obverse and Reverse: Integration of Migrants and Refugees
2021 On May 18–28, virtual, Erasmus+ sponsored training took place in which participants from Lithuania and other European countries learned about mutual understanding, promoting tolerance, and combating racism and refugee integration during various workshops.
The project aimed to train participants and provide them with the information they need to adopt new experiences after the training to help refugees integrate more easily and to raise public awareness of the situation of migrants and refugees in Europe and the world.
During the various workshops, the participants of the training created and presented the stories of the refugees, which had to reflect not only the real everyday experiences of the refugees but also the challenges that the refugees face when traveling to other countries. These stories are part of a non-formal approach to education that uses creative processes to delve into a problem and possible solutions to problems that meet the needs of communities.
The following topics were developed in the training:
- Ways to contribute to the integration of migrants and refugees;
- Intercultural dialogue learning;
- Inclusion, tolerance, and mutual understanding / combating racism and stereotypes;
- Migration and refugees;
- Circumstances promoting migration, migration flows;
- Awareness-raising for migrants/refugees;
- Strategies that meet community needs and migrant stories.
Upon successful completion of the training, the project participants received Europass certificates as proof of new skills and knowledge.
