Erasmus+ project “See Beyond” constitutes an international youth exchange program undertaken to integrate young people with blindness or sight impediment with their peers who do not suffer from sight disability. This project was drafted by the participants themselves and its idea corresponds to their needs. This initiative will feature 38 youngsters in age from 17-25 years old with their caretakers, representing the non-governmental organizations from Poland, Lithuania and Hungary. The objective of this meeting will focus on enrichment of the knowledge on healthy lifestyle through the means of freely accessible sports activities as the basic right for everyone. In the aftermath we expect the attendants of this project to step up their sportsmanship and social commitment by engaging in implementation of local initiatives, which advocate for healthy lifestyle and sports (to be planned and sorted out during the seminar). For enabling all the guests to partake equally in the sessions we will resort to the methods of informal education like discussions, audiodescriptions, presentations, artistic expression, working in small groups and drama. It will be a long term advantage to raise the awareness that we live among people with special needs, who are largely eliminated or discriminated from having their share in social, public and cultural life with regard to limited availability of facilities geared to their needs (restaurant, swimming pool, living quarters, means of transport etc.). Our initiative may prove itself an inspiration for adaptation of given places/institutions into more user friendly facilities for the disabled (handicapped) people.
